Meet Kamilah, owner of Kamicoo Designs Handmade (aka KDH). KDH is a brand of wearable art designed and handcrafted by Kamilah in Washington, DC. Kamilah is a very talented designer who grew up with natural artistic abilities. As a child she loved to draw comical characters. As a teenager and young adult she wrote and performed poetry and drew beautiful portraits. As an adult she has taken her artwork and made it wearable.

Kamilah is inspired by jewelry that would be found in ancient ruins or being worn by native tribes living off of the grid. She has studied her craft and has grown to understand the art of individuality.

“I want to inspire you to return to the artistry found only in specialty items. It takes time, skill, and a pure love of art to create something that inspires others. When you wear a piece of my jewelry I want you to feel like you are wearing something that adds to your beauty and inspires your spirit. It’s deeper than just chucking on factory made goods made by someone you will never meet in a place you would never go. Every piece is designed by me and handcrafted in my home studio in the Washington D.C. area. I take care to make sure that nothing is exactly alike so that no one else on earth will have your exact piece. This art is my passion. I think about designing jewelry from the time I wake to the time I fall asleep. I take care to make sure every piece is carefully completed from the initial sketch to the high quality finishes.
